Part 19 - Why World cup is unreachable for British???

We are about to reach the end of this world cup 2019 series. Till now we discussed about 9 teams and the final one is the Tournament host England. Next to South Africa's world cup mystery fans from worldwide having one more question. Why England cant able to win even a single world cup? The British were the one who introduced cricket to the world but still cant able to lift the world cup. They were usually a good team before the tournament but in the tournament they will fail at important match or else will lose to a small teams. Thats is the usual things happening in the case of England. They reached world cup finals thrice 1979, 1987 and 1992 still its a dream for them. England team were totally different when they are playing at home and playing at away. More over they will became ferocious if its Ashes Tournament. Whenever they are facing their rivals Aussie they will deliver their full potential.
England produced many legendary players like Graham Gooch, Ian Botham, Jack Hobbs, Trueman, David Gower, Alaistar Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff, Cattik, Grame Swan, Jimmy Anderson and list continues now with Joe Root and so. Still their thirst didnt quench. Most of players played for England were from Foreign soil like Kevin from South Africa. Now their wc 2019 captain Eoin Morgan is from Ireland. Somewhere they were missing the chances of lifting world cup. This year they are in extremely good form and considering one of the top 4 team to lift world cup. Lets start the post from the their world cup Journey.

1987 - Runner Up
1992 - Runner Up

2003 - Group Stage
2007 - Super Eight
2011 - Quarter Finals
2015 - Group Stage
Till now England hosts four times 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999. This year is fifth time for them that too after 20 years. First three world cup were held at England. Its mainly because of England is the only country having capability of conducting world cup. But they lost at semi finals in 1975. They went till finals in 1979 but was beaten by West Indies and satisfied as Runner Up. In 1983 world cup they lost to their sibling India at semi finals. Later in 1987 they beat the same India in same Semi finals at their home. But lost to Australia at finals and added one more runner up in their history.
1992 world cup was held at Australia and Newzealand. First time round robin method introduced England performed well at that tournament. They faced South Africa at semifinals and won by DL method with the help of rain. At finals they faced Pakistan, England completely surrendered against the pak bowling lineup and lost one more world cup. After that England didnt cross semi finals in world cups. Almost 27 years gone.
After 1992, their best is quarter finals in 2011 and 1996 world cup. In 1999 world cup at their home they failed to qualify next stage. They lost the place to Zimbabwe by net run rate difference. In 2003 world cup they lost the super six spot to the same Zimbabwe. England gave walkover in a match against Zimbabwe due to protection reason. In 2007 and 2015 they not even crossed the group stage. In 2011 they were strong enough team to qualify quarter finals but lost to Ireland at league match makes a major blow. In 2015 they won only 2 matches that too against Scotland and Afghanistan. Again they lost against a minnows Bangladesh at group stage.
But their current form gave lot of hope to reach semi or even to lift cup this year. More over they are going to play at their home will be an added advantage for them.
