Fastest Bowlers

Being a bowler is not an easy task. They should maintain their fitness and accuracy to sustain in their team. Cricket is the game which always meant as domination of batsmen. Even the statistics and articles focusing on batsmen. If you ask anyone as "who is the best cricketer in the world"? Obviously most of them will remind either Don Bradman or Sachin Tendulkar. Here the word "cricketer" was taken by mind as batsmen. No one will think about Michael Holding, Malcomm Marshall or Dennis Lilly until we ask particularly as best bowler.

Bowlers will get credits only when they picked too many wickets or an hat-trick. But bowling in a right line and length without any extras will make one as good bowler. Many bowlers came in cricket history. We remind very few just because of their records or style. Here we are going to see such a list of bowling records.

Top five fastest balls bowled in Cricket history??? Now many will think of their favorite bowlers. Lets dive into the crease to witness the real speedster of International Cricket.

5. Andy Roberts (West Indies)

andy roberts

Caribbean land produced many ferocious fast bowlers like Evin, Malcomm Marshall, Holding and the list goes on. Andy Roberts is one of the gem from West Indies team. He played for his country from mid of 1970s to starting of 1980s. Roberts is a specialist in breaking jaws of batsman who is facing his delivery. Then imagine what would be the condition of batsman facing andy's fast bouncer. Yes, Andy bowled the fastest ball of international cricket at that time. Its a match between West Indies and Australia. Andy Roberts bowled a ball with a speed of 99.1mph, it means the ball came at a speed of 159.5 kmph.

And Greg Chappel is the Lucky Batsman who faced this lightning delivery from Roberts.

4. Mitchell Starc (Australia)

Starc

Records will always be rewritten by some one. Since almost many records has been created before 2010 itself. Players who played after 2010 take the role of record breakers. Mitchell Starc is one among the who broke the record of Andy Roberts and clinched fourth spot in fastest bowlers list. Starc is one of the best bowler of the decade. He is the blend of speed and accuracy. Starc delivers a ball with a speed of 99.7 mph or 160.4 kmph. He is the only bowler in current generation who can bowl at this speed. Still many matches left. Hope he can break the fastest ball in cricket history.

This ball bowled by Starc remains the fastest ball bowled by a Left Arm Bowler till today

3. Brett Lee (Australia)

Brett Lee

Brett Lee, role model for street cricket bowlers in 2000s. Lee has separate fan base just for his bowling action. There is no doubt Lee got the best bowling style in cricket history. He played for Australia along with bowling legend Glenn Mcgrath, Jason Gillespie, Andy Bichel and Shane Warne. Still Lee created an iconic spot for him among cricket fans. This aggressive player bowled a ball of 100.1 mph (161.1 kmph) which remains the fastest ball bowled by an Australian at that time.

2. Shaun Tait (Australia)

Tait

Shaun Tait, one of the weird player in international cricket. He played for Australia from the mid of 2000's and sustained only few years. Everyone knows sustaining in Australian team is tougher than bowling inside ground. Few bad matches will make you to drop from the team. Tait case is quite different. Australia gave many chances to him. But Tait lost his place because of injuries and NO BALLS. Yes, this six  plus foot bowler crossed crease many times during bowling. Still Shaun Tait left international cricket with the record of fastest ball bowled by an Australian player. Tait bowled the second fastest ball in international cricket with a speed of 100.1 mph (161.1 kmph). Sometimes he used to broke the bat of batsman with his delivery.

1. Shoaib Akthar (Pakistan)

Shoaib Akthar

God father of fast bowling, the Ravalpindi Express, Shoaib Akthar holds the record of fastest bowler in International cricket till today. His unique style of bowling action and long hair have more fans than any other bowlers. Akthar played along with Pakistan legendary bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. That time Pakistan had worlds greatest bowling lineup with the swing bowling of Akram - Waqar Duo and the fast deliveries of Akthar.

Akthar can bowl constantly at a speed of more than 150 kmph. Many controversies and tests taken for Akthar's bowling action and speed. Even once umpire didnt accept his fast delivery crossed 160 kmph. He told like problem with machine. But Akthar proved it again by bowling the fastest ball in cricket history with a speed of 100.2 mph (161.3 kmph).

Many batsman struggled to make contact ball with bat when they face Akthar. I think Rahul Dravid is the only batsman who can handle this guy by stopping his ball under the bat.
