Match 27: Mumbai Vs Rajasthan Post Analysis
Jos Butler save Royals at Lions Den
Last match against Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians chased a big target of 197 runs with the help of Pollard. Today they faced Rajasthan Royals, and the same wonderful high chase happened. But chased by Rajasthan Royals with their saviour Jos Butler and made RR to register their second win in this season. Regular captain Rohit Sharma return to squad after missing last match for Mumbai. Surprisingly Ben Stokes was replaced by liam Livingston in Rajasthan squad. Let see how mumbai lost the match to rajasthan eventhough Bumrah bowled well at death overs.
Mumbai started to bat first with regular openers Rohit Sharma and De cock. I think Rohit saw yesterday Shikar's knock for DC, so hitman also wants to confirm his place in Indian squad. Still its a mystery whenever India selecting a squad for big tournament before that week Rohit and Dhawan retaining their form with big knock. Anyway thats seperate topic will discuss that later. Both Hitman and Decock scored runs quickly. They continuously hitting boundaries everyone though Mi will easily score 200 runs in this match. But Jofra Archer broke that partnership by getting rohit for 47 runs from 32 balls. Suryakumar supported quinton by scoring 16 runs and went. Then the most expected Pollard came to bat, But was controlled by Rajasthan spinners and again Jofra Archer picked him. After scoring big Quinton went to pavilion for 81 runs with 6 boundaries and 4 sixes. Then at last over Hardik showed death over batting to RR with a helicopter six and scored 28 runs. Mumbai finished their batting with 187 runs. Jofra Archer took 3 main wickets of Mumbai and controlled them scoring 200 plus runs.
Rajasthan started the chase, even fans know if mumbai get butler then only they can think of their win. The same happened with a twist. This time Butler rotated strike and Rahane started to smash the ball. He used powerplay well and scored 37 runs from 21 balls with a strike rate of 176. Then Sanju samson and Butler started to punish bowlers eventhough powerplay ends. Butler got out when royals were 147 runs. Butler scored 89 runs in 43 balls. He scored 28 runs in Alzarri Joseph over, who is the guy took 6wickets against SRH and broke Tanvir record of best bowling figures in IPL History. Samson scored 31 runs from 26 balls. Suddenly a twist happened in the match both Tripathi and Livingston lost their wicket in Krunal Pandya's over. Liam Livingston who replaced Stokes in squad gave 13 runs in 1 over. RR fans expected atleast he will support in batting. But he failed to use the platform laid by Butler and played irresponsible short and gone for 1 run. At the end of 18th over Royals were 174 for 5 wickets. In another 12 balls they need 14 runs. Steve Smith on strike, Bumrah bowled some excellent balls at that over. He took Smith at 1st ball itself. After that Gopal and Gowtham tries to save Royals from defeat. But a boundary scored by Gopal at last ball of 19th over which reduces pressure and RR needs 6 runs in last over. Hardik Pandya bowled the last over first ball a double, second ball a dot and third ball a boundary thats it Shreyas Gopal completed the chase started by Butler. Bumrah, no words to describe his death over spell. He can win many matches to both Mumbai and India with his presence of mind.
If Pollard is a nightmare for KXIP, Butler is the nightmare for Mumbai Indians. Last year he was in great form and helped RR to enters playoff. This time also he scored 3 half centuries. Like Butler, Jofra Archer is a gem for Royals. Still royals have chances to enter playoff. Once again Mumbai weakness exposed. They having good death bowler, good allrounder, good batsmen, but they didnt have a proper spinner and overseas bowler. Mumbai should focus on this in next season. Even though Rahul Chahar performing well, definitely they will miss a experienced spinner like Harbhajan Singh.
