Match 26: KXIP Vs DC Post Analysis

"Sher"kar Dhawan attack at land of Bengal Shers
It was the 26th match of IPL 2019, between the dangerous Kolkata Knight Riders and young Delhi Daredevils. Knight Riders were in great form in this season except the match against CSK. Particularly Andre Russel was in beast mode now. On the other side Delhi Capitals filled with young talents, that is the youngest team in this season. They are performing well under the guidance of Ricky Ponting and the Real Bengal Tiger "Dada". KKR made a big change in opening and replaced Joe Denly in place of Chris Lynn.

After the toss KKR started to bat with unexpected opening pair Joe Denly with Subhman Gill. But Denly gone for a golden duck that too in his first ever IPL match. Ishanth bowled him in the very ball of the innings. Robbie came in and supported Gill. When robbie was there Subhman didnt worry about the loss of wicket. He started play his original innings. After some overs uthappa fall for 28runs and Rana fall for 11 runs. Now Subhman crossed his half century and lost his wicket for 65 runs from 39 balls. He knows hereafter Russel will take over the match. Even Dinesh and Brathwaite failed to score big, they both gone for single digit. Russel showed once again fireworks at Eden Garden. He scored powerful 45 runs from 21 balls with 4 sixes and 3 boundaries. In last over Piyush Chawla scored few boundaries and helped KKR to score a challenging target of 178 runs, which is enough for KKR to defend. One more time young Rabada pick two wickets.

Delhi Capitals started the chase with Gabbar and Prithvi Shaw. They gave a good start to DC, then Shaw gone for 14 runs from 7 balls when the score was 32runs from 3 overs. The skipper Shreyas left earlier with 6 runs. Then both the left handers Shikar and Pant smashed KKR bowlers to boundaries. They didnt hit much sixes but lot of boundaries came. They scored 105 runs together and increased score to 162 runs in 17.1 over. Unexpectedly Pant lost his wicket in to a parttime bowler Rana. Rana did what his captain expected from him. Its too late Shikar and Ingram once again takes DC home at 19th over itself. Yesterday KKR tried seven bowlers to broke the partnership of Dhawan and Pant. But it didnt work. Shikar was in good form if KKR scored a bit 10 or 20 runs more definitely he would have scored a century.

The biggest difference for both the team is Gabbar's batting. He knows if he tries to hit sixes in such a big ground like Eden Garden he may loss the wicket. So he used the ground well and scored as much as boundary he can. Out of 97 runs he scored 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. He became careful in handling Prasid krishna and Kuldeep. But he targetted all other bowlers particulary Piyush Chawla and Ferguson. Dont know why Dinesh Karthik didnt pick Sunil Narine in squad, may be he plan rest for him. He added Carlos Brathwaite in squad this made a imbalance squad for a pitch like Eden. and ends up with only two spinners Kuldeep and Piyush. He should have try KC Cariappa a Leg breaker instead of a right arm leg spinner Piyush against a team like DC which having lot of Left hand Batsman Dhawan, Pant and Ingram. This is the second time KKR losing against DC in this season, first match DC won in super over.

Now four of the teams like KKR, MI, DC and KXIP having 8 points in the table. Tomorrow on 1st day of weekend we have two matches one between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, Another one is Royals Challengers Bengaluru with Kings XI Punjab. If Royals lost this match their playoff chances will come to end easily. In case of RCB, if they loss again better they can dismantle the team and pick new team and coach for next season. Otherwise they can try by changing their names as like Delhi.
