Shami's hat-trick seals victory for India
Second half of the ICC World Cup 2019 going with lot of interesting matches. It surprising us with many unexpected moments. Yesterday the thoughtful weaker side Srilanka beat the strongest England and intimated everyone that they are also in the race for semi. Today the men in blue squad faced the young Afghanistan in their 5th match. Afghanistan already out of tournament with 5 loss. Fans expected a comfortable win for Kohli & co. But their statistics was not so impressive against Afghans. Previously they met twice, out of that one match won by India and another match in Asia cup ends with tie. Even 252 runs became a big target for India in that match and somehow they levelled the score. Even in this match also Afghanistan gave a tough competition to India, almost India went till the edge of defeat.
Kohli and team bat first with Rohit and Rahul. Once Indians were experts in playing spin balls. But now they are struggling to score runs against spin. Even afghans knew that, thats why Naib gave ball to Mujeeb Ur Rahman in first spell itself. Once again the spin weakness of India exposed by losing Rohit wicket for 1 run. Skipper Kohli scored his half century after losing Rahul (30 runs) and Vijay (29 runs). Kohli was taken by Nabi when he was 67 runs from 63 balls. Kohli is the only Indian had 100+ strike rate in this match. Finally Kedhar Jadhav get a chance to prove why he is playing in XI. Dhoni and Jadhav played very slowly. Dhoni lost his wicket to Rahid for 28 runs from 52 balls. Jadhav played slowly still score his half century 52 runs from 68 balls. Finally India ends up with a score 224/8 at the end of 50 overs. They smashed 300+ runs against top team but not even crossed 250 runs against an associate team. Mujeeb gave only 26 runs from 10 overs with a wicket. Nabi, Rashid and Rahmat also bowled very economically.
As we know Afghanistan batting lineup is very weak, we thought India have lot of chances to win the match if they took wickets. Shami, playing his first game in WC 2019 bowled well at powerplay along with Bumrah. He took Zazai wicket too. Afghan top order played decently. They scored 106 runs for 4 wickets. Bumrah strikes twice at 28th over and sent Rahmat and Shahidi to pavilion. Asgar Afghan lost his stumps to Chahal. Mohammed Nabi and Najibullah made a brilliant partnership for 6th wicket which increased the blood pressure of audience. They both slowly reaching the target. Hardik Pandya make a breakthrough at 42nd over by taking Najibullah. Still Nabi is there, so afghan had a chance to win. Rashid (14 runs) contributed well at end. Other end Nabi reaching target with the help of tailenders. Last four overs bowled by Bumrah and Shami. Both bowled well. Bumrah gave 7runs at 49th over. So shami had a pressure of defending 16 runs from 6 balls. First ball went as low yorker and Nabi sent it to boundary, now pressure increased more. Next ball a dot, eventhough had a chance for single Nabi denied it. Third ball the plan worked, Nabi was caught at long on by Hardik from Shami. Nabi's tremendous half century innings 52 from 55 balls came to an end. Shami didnt make any mistake he bowled next two balls in stump line and bowled both Mujeeb and Aftab. Thats a hattrick for Shami in world cup and India won the match by 11 runs.
Man of the Match: Jasprit Bumrah (2/39 from 10 overs with a maiden)
Shami became the second indian to get hat trick in world cup after Chetan Sharma. This became the first hat trick of this season. Shami bowled well in his first wc 2019 game with figures 4/40 from 9.5 overs. Still man of the match was awarded to Jasprit Bumrah for his two wickets in an over at crucial time. He took both Rahmat Shah and Shahidi. More over his last three overs created pressure on Afghan batsman and helps Shami to bowl without pressure.
