Match 40: RR Vs DC Post Analysis
Another Century from losing side
It was the 40th match of the IPL season 2019. Rajasthan Royals faced Delhi Capitals at their home. This season delhi won most of the matches at away only. So came with the same expectation. On the other side Royals were at second from the bottom of the table. They need to win this match also to avoid in qualifying playoff at the end of league matches. But first batted Royals set a challenging score to Delhi Capitals.Lets see what happen after that whether continues their winning streak at away or Royals keeps their playoff dream alive.
After the toss Royals batted first with Rahane and Samson. With out facing any ball Sanju samson runout by Kagiso Rabada. Then RR captain Steve Smith and Ex captain Rahane put hands together in saving RR batting from collapse. Rahane was dropped by Ishanth Sharma at 16 runs. Then Rahane played exceptionally as he played in 2012 season. Each and every score with proper cricketer shot. Definitely he is the stylish player of that match. Before this it seems like he was having captain burden. But today he played like old Rahane. Not only him even Smith came to form. Because he is the captain of team. He played again a captains innings. Finally Smith was taken at long on by Morris after scoring his half century. But Rahane keep on going and scored his second hundred in IPL Tournament. But no one supported him at non striker end. At once RR expected score was 220 plus. But they ends up with only 191 runs. Rahane remains not out with 105 runs, which is the best of his IPL score.
Delhi Capitals started the chase confidently with Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. Because their opening pair played good at away games only. The same happened, Dhawan played one more beautiful innings. He scored half century in 25 balls and gone for 54 runs by Shreyas Gopal. Captain Shreyas didnt shine went for 4 runs. Then the magic happened Rishab pant and Prithvi Shaw. Prithvi gone for 42 runs from 39 balls. There was a complaint on Pant like he is playing well but didnt play even a single match winning knock. And he fulfilled both yesterday. He played with fours and sixes as like other matches but didnt forget to rotate single. Definitely this is the best innings in his career. Because of him Delhi Capitals chased the target with in 19.2 overs.
As we already told Royals didnt finished their innings properly at death overs. Because of that they were shortage of 30 runs. If they scored like that, definitely it may some more pressure over Delhi batsmen and makes their win possbile. In this IPL three times a team lost the match when one of their losing side batsman scored century. And the sad thing is Royals achieved this two times first when Samson scored hundred and second when Rahane scored in this match. Other one is KL Rahul hundred against KKR ends up with their team losing.
