Clash of Champions at Chepauk
Its another clash between the IPL rivals Chennai Super Kings takes Mumbai Indians at their home ground. Mumbai Indians were the first team presented a defeat to Super Kings at Mumbai. Eventhough Super Kings already went to playoff with last match win. They have to win against Mumbai Indians at their home to keep home win record at Chepauk. But its not so easy against Mumbai, they were totally different team when playing against others and more aggressive when playing against Chennai Super Kings. As we expected MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja at rest in keeping world cup at their mind. Definitely this rest is a much needed one for MSD. So they came to ground under the captaincy of Suresh Raina.
One more time CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. Harbhajan, Vijay, Santner and Dhruv Shorey came in for MSD, Shradhul, Faf and Jaddu. The visitor also did many changes in their team Lewis and Anukul roy played their first match in this season. Mumbai opened the innings with Hitman and De cock. Once again Santner make a twist and took Rohit for 67 runs. Then Bravo and Chahar controlled Pollard and Hardik at death overs. They scored 33 runs still its below than their average score at death overs. Finally Mumbai ends up with 155 runs at the end of 20 overs.
155 is a good score at Chepauk pitch. Mumbai had lot of chances to defend the total with their brilliant bowling attack. Moreover the chase wont be easy for CSK because they didnt have Faf, MSD and Jaddu in squad. Its Raina responsibility to make the chase successfull. But lot of unexpected things happen at second innings of this match.
Super Kings started their chase with Watson and Vijay. Murali Vijay playing for Chennai after a long gap. In the firs over itself watson started attacking Malinga. He smashed 3rd and 4th ball to boundary in 5th ball also he flicked at fine leg for a boundary. But Malinga and rohit set a trap there and Watto caught by Rahul Chahar, he gone for 8 runs. Suresh Raina managed for one over but he gone for 2 runs at third over first ball by Hardik Pandya. Thats totally unncessary shot at that time. Once again Raina doing the same kind of mistake try to hit balls at powerplay. He has to remember that he is not in good form. He has to consume many balls at powerplay then have to rotate strike at middle over. After facing some 25 balls then only he should play big shots. Rayudu and Jadhav departed quick for one more time. Dhruv Shorey failed to connect the ball properly and caught at long on by Chahar. Murali vijay somehow scored 38 runs from 35 balls and went pavilion. Except one six from him none other shots he didnt pick properly. Still bravo and Santner is there at crease. But bravo was taken brilliantly by malinga by a caught n bowl. While other CSK batsmen facing difficult to drive shots. Mitchel Santner striking it without any problem. Santner gone as last wicket for CSK. The hosts lost the match by 46 runs. Eventhough malinga was expensive like 37 runs from 3.4 overs he took 4 wickets in this match.
Super Kings always a unbeatable team at their home. But still dont know that wont work against Mumbai Indians when they are playing at Chepauk. The last time CSK beat Mumbai at their home was in 2011. So the dominance of Mumbai at chepauk against CSK continues for the last 8 years. Once again CSK realising the importance of Dhoni and Jadeja in their squad. Both in batting as well as in captaincy. Moreover even lewis caught by rayudu in Bhajji's over. Rayudu and Bhajji didnt claim wicket, even Umpire didnt give out but the ultra edge shows its was out. If MSD is there definitely he will ask for out and use DRS for that. Still i wonder why they are keeping Jadhav and Rayudu in squad. Rayudu didnt do anything in batting in this entire season. Kedhar scored atleast one 50plus score but not putting any bowling being an allrounder. They both are wasting other young players chances too. Even Raina too, he is good player at any pitch but he selection of shots & plan were totally wrong in the entire season. If CSK top order decided to continue the same form in playoffs, better they could forget the trophy.
