Match 52: KXIP Vs KKR Post Analysis

What will happen if all the youngster in both the team performed well? Answer for the above question is you need to watch the 52nd match of IPL 2019 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI punjab. KKR were top at season start later they failed 6 consecutive matches and made their playoff chances questionable. On the other hand Kings XI punjab were unbeatable at their home Mohali except the loss against RCB. But they lost many matches at away. Both the teams need to win this match for surviving in playoff competition. In that situation KKR skipper DK won the toss and decided to field as per the rule of IPL 2019 toss winners.

So they did it with the help of Sandeep Warrier. The young bowler from Kerela removed both the Kings XI openers for cheap runs 14 and 2 respectively. Then Nicholas Pooran put hands together with Mayank Agarwal. Mayank played a quite innings at one end. But the Caribbean Pooran played one of his best innings yesterday. Within short time Mayank also left crease for 36 runs and Mandeep for 25 runs. Apart from a hat trick at first match nothing gone right for Sam Curran in this season. But yesterday he shined with bat. He played such a unforgettable shot at death overs and helped Kings XI to cross 180 runs. Finally KXIP ends up with 183 runs with a half century from Sam Curran 55 runs not out from 24 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. KKR bowler Warrier did a good job by picking two openers and helped them in restricting KXIP less than 200 runs.
Then KKR started to chase the target of 184 runs with the same pair as like last match. Once again Lynn and Gill gave a wonderful start for KKR chase. Lynn used his forearm strength completely to pick up the shot. Because of this he scored 46 runs from 22 balls with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. But its too late for KXIP because KKR have already scored 62 runs from 6 overs. Then Robbie Uthappa came to bat at no3. He smashed KXIP dependant spinner M ashwin. But cant able to make it big. Uthappa got trapped by R Ashwin at 11th over for 22 runs when the score was 100 runs. Still KKR has need to go more. After that silent Gill played many classic shot which easy takes the game towards KKR. Russell send two sixes at tye over. But he caught by Shami in the same over of Andrew Tye. Dinesh Karthik didnt waste any time as he know run rate is very important in this time to compete with SRH in case if both finished same points at league matches. Gill scored a brilliant half century and DK finished the match with a four, six and a four at 18th over itself. Punjab local boy Subhmann Gill remains not out for 65 runs from 49 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. DK scored 21 runs from 9 balls with 2 boundaries and a six.
With this win Kings XI lost their chances for playoff while KKR surviving still in competition based on their next match against Mumbai Indians and SRH next match result Kolkata get chance to play in next round. Over all its very delightful to watch the youngsters performance in yesterday's match. Gill & Curran half centuries, Pooran strike at critical time, Warrier spell at powerplay.
