ICC World Cup 2019

Match 14 - India Vs Australia

World cup rivals are back

Most of the cricket fans know India-Pakistan and England-Australia are the rivals in world cricket. But when coming to ICC world cups Australia and India are the best ever rivals. Both gave many interesting match to cricket fans. In other words we can say, India is the only team gave tough challenge to Australia in world cup games. Such a kind of two strong teams faced each other on Sunday at Oval ground. Their last clash in world cup happened in 2015 WC semi finals which was won by the hosts Australia from a superb century of Steve Smith.

Team India improved much in these four years. Particularly in bowling, arrival of Bumrah and Hardik pandya made impact in this match. India bat first and scored 352 runs with the help of Shikar Dhawan's century 117 runs from 109 balls with 16 boundaries. Once again Dhawan proved he is made for ICC tournaments. This one is third century for Dhawan in world cups. He is just behind Sourav Ganguly (4) and Sachin tendulkar (6). Rohit Sharama suppoted him at opening and scored a brilliant half century. But the support provided by skipper Virat Kohli (82 runs) helps them to increase their momentum. Because of these three India crossed 270 runs. But a quick fire from the trio Hardik Pandya (48 from 27 balls), MS Dhoni (27 from 14 balls) and KL rahul (11 runs from 3 balls)  made 350+ runs possible for India. Australians saved many boundaries and also missed few catches too.

Defending champions started the difficult chase very slow. Bumrah and Bhuvi controlled both Warner and Finch in fist 10 overs itself. This 10 overs made the chase more difficult than previous. Hardik Pandya bowled some short balls to Warner which made him struggle. Second reason for their loss is the run out of Finch. Aussie captain return to a good touch after facing too many balls. A mix up of running between Warner and Finch results in run out. Finch (36 runs) doesnt want second run still Warner reached half way mark in that 22 yards. Warner (56 runs) and Smith (69 runs) scored half century. Usman Khawajah (42 runs) lost his wicket at crucial time from a unwanted knock at that time. Stoinis went for duck. Glenn Maxwell (28 runs) alone faced the ball without any confusion and attacked. But the chase pressure made him to lose wicket. Alex Carey remains not out till end with a brilliant half century (55 runs from 35 balls). Carey missed a catch for Hardik at 0, which costs 48 runs from 27 balls. For that he equaled. But Australia went all out for 316 runs at the last ball of the innings. Both Indian pacers Bumrah and Bhuvi took 3 wickets each.

Man of the Match: Shikar Dhawan

Broken Records:
Finally India put an end to the ten consecutive winning streak of Australia in ODI. This is not new for Indians they have already put an end to their 16 consecutive test match win twice (in 2001 and 2008).

Another record was broken. Out of 22 chase Australia lost only twice in world cups. Their last chase failure was in 1999 world cup. But India presented another chase lose yesterday.

Only few teams have scored more than 300 runs against Australia in world cups. Now India became the first team to score 350+ runs against Australia in world cups.

Finally India took revenge for their loss at 2015 world cup semi final against Aussies. There is a similarity in world cups because of yesterday's match. Whenever there is a clash between India and Australia except finals in world cups. The winner will lift the cup in that tournament.
