Shakib shines for Bangladesh in record chase
Before this match the highest run chase in world cup was done by Ireland against England in 2011 WC group match. Many big teams failed to broke the record of the maximum run chase in world cup history. But Bangladesh achieved it just like that. You may believe that bangladesh won a match against Windies. But you will never believe that they chased the target of 322 runs at 42nd over itself. Yes, Windies massive score went in vein just because of their poor bowling and fielding. More than that it happened because of the wonderful innings from Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das.
Scoring century is not an easy job for Bangladesh batsmen since a decade before. Nowadays they produced many world class batsmen like Mushfiqur rahim, tamim iqbal, soumya sarkar, shakib al hasan, litton das and the list goes on. But Shakib created a unique record of scoring century in an high score chasing game. Shakib's 124 runs from 99 balls with 16 boundaries helped Bangladesh to create this record. While praising Shakib, we should not forget the big contribution from Liton Das 94 runs from 69 balls with 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. Liton remains not out and missed his maiden world cup century by 6 runs short because of no more target runs. He started his innings very slowly, later accelerated it well and ends up with hat trick sixes in an over. But the foundation for this big chase was laid by Tamim Iqbal. Critics told that he is not in form in this world cup. But Tamim laid a good platform for other batsman at top order. He scored 48 runs from 53 balls with 6 boundaries. Windies bowlers didnt take bangladesh as serious opponent after scoring 321 runs. Thats why they gave 26 extras, including 25 wides. Bowling wides in this kind of big tournaments will open gates for out of the tournament. Before one decade Windies used to bowl too many no balls now they are putting wides.
Shakib not only shined as batsmen, he took 2 wickets too while bowling. Windies scored 321 runs at the end of 50 overs. Lewis (70 runs) and Shai Hope (96 runs) helped Windies to score 300+ runs after the loss of Gayle's wicket. Universal boss played his worst ever ODI game, he gone for duck after facing 13 balls. Another hitter Russell still was in T20 mode. He gone for duck, when Windies had 10 overs left. Shimron Hetmyer (50 from 26 balls) and Holder (30 from 15 balls) helped Windies to set a huge target of 322 runs. But their effort went nothing because of their worst bowling. It seems like Windies not showing any interest in keeping plan for Bangladesh batsmen. Saifuddin and Fizz took 3 wickets each.
Man of the Match: Shakib Al Hasan
Now Shakib Al Hasan had two centuries in the ongoing tournament. More than that he moved to top in the leading run scorer of the tournament. His All round performance revealed why he is the world no 1 all rounder now. For the past 10 years he keeps his form at peak. With this win Bangladesh moved to 5th position with 2 wins, 2 loss and 1 abandoned game. They already beat South Africa and now its Windies. Still bangladesh need 3 wins to make sure their berth at semi finals. Hope this will be a big tournament for Bangladesh. But for Windies???? they should change their bowling and batting attitude, otherwise better to forget the 2019WC.
