Most disappointed Eleven of ICC World Cup 2019

Most disappointed Eleven of ICC World Cup 2019

ICC World Cup 2019 ends with a historical win by England. The land of cricket claimed their maiden world title in the history of 44 years ODI cricket world cup. For the past one week we have seen many fans posting about their best eleven of ICC World cup 2019. Even ICC officially announced the best 12 member team of this tournament. Many of us know about this. But for a change our site analysed about the most disappointed Eleven of this tournament. The list was taken on the basis of their performance in entire tournament not by considering just one or two matches. Those players were highly expected before the tournament but ends up with a below average or worst performance. Lets see how many players from each country and who are all in this list. We didnt consider any players from Afghanistan in this list, just because they are amateur. Afghans need some time to prove them.

1. Martin Guptil (New Zealand)

Highest individual scorer of the world cups scored and highest runs scorer of ICC World cup 2015, Martin Guptil. The kiwi opener scored only 186 runs from 10 matches including only one half century in this tournament. That one half century (73*) also came against Srilanka. Guptil scored nearly half of this entire score in his first match itself. In many matches he lost his wicket for single digit. Somehow in finals alone he scored double digit runs. It seems like the retirement of Brendon affected him to the core. Kane Williamson had lot of trust on him thats why he played all the matches played by NZ in this tournament. Only one benefit NZ got because of him, that is the run out of MSD at semi finals at crucial time.

2. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan)

Another double centurion in this list. Pakistan young sensational hitter Fakhar Zaman went very much disappointed in this tournament. He scored only 186 runs from 8 matches with one half century. Pakistan completely depend on the opening partnership of the youngsters Fakhar and Imam. But their problem is, if Fakhar performs well Imam dot scoring much, if Imam performing Fakhar not even crossing single digit. Because of his early departure from pitch, the pressure building on the shoulders of Babar Azam. Still four years there for next tournament. Hope Fakhar will bounce back.

3. Soumya Sarkar (Bangladesh)

Even though Soumya is a opening batsman we consider him at no 3 in this list because of his worst batting in this tournament and also No 3 batmen from each team performed well in this tournament like Kolhi, Root, Kane, Faf, Avishka, Babar, khawajah and list goes on. Soumya performed well in bowling for Bangladesh as a part time bowler. But he forget that he is basically a batsman. In the entire tournament he scored only 166 runs from 8 matches with 42 as his best.

4. Kusal Mendis (Sri lanka)

Sri lanka's most reliable batsman Kusal Mendis went most disappointed in this tournament. Before the starting of this tournament Sri lankan top order depends on both Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis. Perera gave a satisfied performance after came to open innings with Karunaratne. But Kusal Mendis scored just 143 runs from 7 matches with 46 as his highest. His average is nearly 20 and strike rate didnt exceed 60.

5. Glenn Maxwell (Australia)

Shocking pick of this eleven. Glen Maxwell, the destructive all rounder from Australia went disappointed in this tournament not only because of batting. In bowling also Maxwell failed to pick wickets. Max bowled 49 overs in this tournament but didnt pick even a single wicket but gave 295 runs. In most of the games Australia played with only 5 bowling options. Maxwell was one among them, he is not a full time bowler, but we cant able to see the old bowling performance from Glenn. In batting also Maxwell failed to show his fireworks, he scored only 177 runs from 10 matches with 46 as his best.

6. Marcus Stoinis (Australia)

Sad to see another Aussie all rounder in this list. Marcus Stoinis suffered with injury in this tournament and missed one match too. Australia selection committee had trust on him and picked him ahead of Mitchel Marsh. But Stoinis batting average is just 14.50 in this entire tournament with 87 runs from 7 innings. In bowling he took 7 wickets after bowling 40 overs which is not a bad statistics but kept 6.10 as his economy. Totally a devasting performance for Australia at middle order. This is Australia's weakest zone in this tournament as we already told.

7. Sarfaraz Ahmed (Pakistan)

Here is the disappointed wicket keeping batsmen of this tournament, Sarfaraz Ahmed.  Many of us got wonder how this guy came in this list ahead of Kiwis Tom Latham, who scored lesser than him. Its not only about batting its a matter of performing behind the stumps too. The Pakistani captain scored only 143 runs from 8 innings with 55 as his highest score. In many matches Sarfaraz came to bat between 40-50 overs. That is the time to increase run rate but Sarfaraz scored only 9 boundaries in the entire tournament and not even a six from his bat. When coming to his keeping, no words to say. He missed may balls that went to boundaries and missed many run outs. Pakistan should found some talented young keeper in another four years.

8. Thisara Perera (Srilanka)

Most dependant all rounder of Sri lanka went most disappointed in this tournament. In batting he is coming at 8th. So we cant expect him to score big. At the same time he has capability of scoring sixes and boundaries. But Thisara scored 61 runs from 6 innings with only 3 sixes and no boundaries. In bowling also thisara didnt made any impact. He bowled 40 overs and gave 207 runs but picked only 1 wicket in the entire tournament.

9. Kuldeep Yadav (India)
A China man bowler from India was consider as one of the key spinners in this tournament. Of course England pitch doesnt favour for spinners. Kuldeep played only 7 matches bowled 67 overs by conceding 337 runs with 6 wickets. His spin didnt threat any batsman in this tournament. Moreover the problem is he cant able to contribute any runs through batting to the team. So its worst decision to pick Kuldeep in squad after 7 matches only Kohli and Ravi got some strike. Later they included Ravindra Jadeja in squad. Somehow India managed bowling unit with fast bowlers.

10. Mashrafe Mortaza (Bangladesh)

Another team captain in this list, Mashrafe Mortaza. His team played gave best game in this season but not him. In 2011 world cup Mashrafe was one of the threating bowlers of that tournament. But this season he took only 1 wicket from 8 innings. Mashrafe bowled 56 overs and 361 runs with 6.44 as his economy. Some how he finished his last world cup tournament with worst figures. But he won bangladesh fans heart as a captain.

11. Hasan Ali  (Pakistan)

A close competition between  Hasan Ali of Pakistan and Lungi Ngidi of South Africa to book the last spot in this list. We decided to go with Hasan for his worst performance when compared to Ngidi. He is always dangerous at power play. But in this tournament he cant able to threat any batsman. Hasan played only 4 matches in this tournament and took only 2 wickets for 256 runs with 7.75 as his economy.

Thats it Folks.................. Still many are there in list like Markram, Amla, Duminy, Malik, Gabriel, Lewis, Russel, Thirimanne, Latham, Joe Vince, Dinesh Karthik etc., But they played only lesser matches, so we left them.

If you think some players came be replaced in the above list. Mentioned that in comment box.
