ICC World Cup 2019

Match 40 - India Vs Bangladesh

Two yorkers from Bumrah secure India's semi final spot......
ICC World Cup 2019 carry lot of twist and turns now. Till now we cant able to decide the top 4 teams who are going to play semi finals. Defending Champions have already booked their spot, India and New Zealand are also in safer zone. But for the 4th position 4 teams fighting and now it reduced into 3 with yesterday Srilanka's low margin win game.  Its upto England, Pakistan and Bangladesh now. In that situation Bangla Tigers played against India to survive in the competition. Unlike other games, Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first.  More over Kohli made few changes in his team by adding Dinesh Karthik and Bhuvi in the place of Kedhar and Kuldeep. Its like India decided to play with 4 bowlers and 1 spinner (chahal) with no practiced part time spinners. Such a foolish move from Kohli.  If he would have Jadeja, the team will have a hitter at depth and a wicket taking alternate spinner. Kohli was in the mind set of previous match, in which England smashed their spinners at the same small boundary ground.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the innings for India. Rahul decided to use the chance and played singles to keep his position in the team. But Rohit Sharma turned into Hitman mode from the first over itself. He started the first over itself with  a six. As expected both openers crossed half centuries. Rohit scored another century in this tournament and equalled the record of Kumar Sangakkara (4 centuries) scoring maximum centuries in a single world cup by a batsmen. It seems like Rohit was in the mood of scoring double century. But one more unwanted shot from Rohit costs his precious wicket as like last match. Rahul gone for 77 runs from 92 balls and Kohli gone for 26 runs. Shakib's spin alone controlled India from scoring 350+ runs. Rishab Pant did a great job at 4th position and lost his wicket for 48 runs from 41 balls. Hardik's duck and DK's 8 made their batting position questionable. As like previous games MS Dhoni showed his arrogance of trying to hit boundaries at last over affected India's run rate. Bangladesh bowlers used the same trick done by England bowlers to control Indian batsmen in last game. SLOW BALLS... same pitch, same slow balls, same batsman restricted India to 314 runs with 9 wicket loss. Dhoni lost his wicket for 35 runs. Mustafizur Rahman took his first 5 wicket haul in world cup. But Shakib bowled too economically by giving just 41 runs from 10 overs with a wicket. Since Bangladesh have already chased a 300 plus target in this season India should bowl carefully to win this game. Both Indian and Pakistan fans prayed for that.

Bangladesh have already crossed 300 runs two times in this season while chasing and won among that. So they started chase with hope. Tamim and Soumya gave a hopeful start for Bangladesh. Shami sent Tamim to pavilion when he was at 22 runs. Inform star Shakib joined hands with Sarkar and lead the chase. Hardik Pandya made a twist by taking Sarkar for 33 runs. Rahim joined with Shakib and marching towards the target. Both experienced Bangla batsmen played well and Shakib scored his half century too. India's only spinner in todays match Chahal gave a breakthrough by taking Rahim for 24 runs. With in 5 overs Litton Das lost his wicket to Pandya and Mosadek lost his stumps to Bumrah. Hardik Pandya back to attack, this time he took Shakib for 66 runs. Bangladesh last batsmen pair Sabbir Rahman and Saiffudin tested the patience of Indian players as well as fans. They both scored boundaries and reaching the target. Sabbir tried to hit Bumrah over mid on but lost his stumps. Mortaza was taken by Dhoni from Bhuvi after  a six. On other side Saiffudin played his life time knock and scored his half century with 9 boundaries. It seems like Saiffudin can win the game for Bangladesh single handedly. Since Shami went more expensive and a over left. Kohli had no other option except Bumrah to take the remaining two wickets. Bumrah came in to bowl 48th over. In 3rd ball Saiffudin send his yorker to boundary and lightup Bumrah's ego. Because of that Rubel and Mustafizur experienced a unplayable yorker from the world's best bowler and lost their stumps. Those two yorkers from Bumrah put an end to Bangladesh world cup dream. India won the match by 28 runs. Bumrah (4 wickets) and Bhuvi (2 wickets) bowled well.

Man of the Match: Rohit Sharma (104 runs from 92 balls with 7 boundaries and 5 sixes)

Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets in this match and all of them were taken by kissing the stumps. But its a wild kiss. With this win India confirmed their semi final spot with 13 points. Its almost clear now that India and Australia were going to finish at top 2 position and they are no more facing each other at semi final. Pakistanis will be the happiest guys now.

Such a delightful tournament for Bangladesh team. May be they missed semi final chance by an inch. But they have created a unique record of chasing the highest target in world cups against West Indies. Bangla Tigers shaked many teams by their performance. They beat South Africa, West Indies but if they win their last match against Pakistan that will be their best memory and can finish the tournament at 5th position.

Tomorrow a big match between the hosts England and the Black caps at Durham. Now the competition between England and Pakistan. Whoever win their next game they will get semi final berth. Hope England can make it in front their people tomorrow. In case if they lost, they have no other option except to pray for Bangladesh to beat Pakistan on Friday.
