Is Proteas solid win affecting lankan semi final chances???

                                 Nothing to lose for South Africa in this world cup now. Since they were already out of the tournament, they are gonna play the remaining two matches just to add points and move to either 6th position in the table. But for Srilanka all three remaining matches are so important to qualify semifinals with the current 6 points. If they win remaining matches they will get 12 points at the end and easily make their presence in semi. But the loss against South Africans in yesterday match put them in a critical condition now. Their next two matches are against Windies and India, is not so easy to win against them. Srilankan's loss gave some hope to Bangladesh, Pakistan and particularly for England. 

                                   Earlier south african skipper Faf du plesis won the toss and request Srilanka to bat first. Kagiso Rabada took Srilankan captain Dimuth in the very first ball of that innings. Srilanka struggled alot to face South african pace attack. Somehow Afernando and Kusal Perera managed 10 overs. But both lost their wickets for 30 runs. Mendis, De Silva and Thisara crossed 20 runs. Finally Srilanka went all out for 203 runs at 49.3 overs. Except Dimuth Karunaratne no other Srilankan batsmen scored ZERO in this match. South African bowling all rounders Morris and Pretorius are the main reason for Srilankan batting collapse. Both took 3 wickets each. Rabada with 2 wickets. 

                                   Protea started to chase the reachable target with Amla and Decock. Once again Decock cheated South African fans by losing his stumps to Malinga for 15 runs. Amla was not in good form in last one year but we saw he helped South Africa in chasing low target against Afghanistan earlier. The same he did yesterday too, both Faf and Amla scored half century. With out any difficulty they chased the target 204 runs at 38th over itself. Faf missed his world cup century by a short of 4 runs. Amla scored 80 runs from 105 balls with just 5 boundaries. Were the skipper Faf Du plesis scored a tremendous 96 runs from 103 balls with 10 boundaries and a six. 

Man of the Match: Dwaine Pretorius ( 3wickets for 25 runs from 10 overs with 46 dot balls)

                                     Pretorius was awarded as the man of the match for his 3 top order wickets. He bowled 46 balls from 60 balls. It means almost 76% he bowled dot balls. With this win South Africa moved to 7th position ahead of Windies. Still they have  only one match that too against the table topper Australia at the last league match of this season. Srilanka are in must win situation now, they need to win both the remaining games otherwise England, Pakistan or Bangladesh will get semi final chance. 

         

                                       Two big matches on this weekend. One match between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan must win with big margin to increase their semi final chances. Another match between  pacific cousins Australia and New Zealand. Since Australia already qualified for semi, its time for New Zealand to confirm their berth otherwise the last match between England will be the trumph card to enter semi final for both team. Its clear now Pakistan vs Bangladesh and England vs New Zealand will be the deciding matches of this tournament.
