India Vs New Zealand - A match prediction
Its Kane Vs Kohli after 11 years......
Year 2008 South East Asian country "Malaysia" filled with lot of cricket fans just to the see the ICC Under-19 World cup tournament. It was a semi final where the U19 Black caps takes the challenge of U19 Men in Blue. Kiwis 19 were seriously chasing the target. Both team captains showing their aggressive to win this match. Indian skipper took 2 wickets in that match including the wicket of New Zealand captain. He also scored 43 runs and helped his team to win this match by 3 wickets (by DL method).
Just in the gap of blinking their eyes 11 years have been rolled out now. That Indian skipper completely stopped his bowling and became the best batsmen in the world in all format of the game. He was so busy in scoring runs like a machine. On the other side Kiwi's captain became the best New Zealand batsmen of all time as well the best batsmen in the world. Fate is now both are the captains of their respective teams and going to play one more semi final clash in world cups. Yes, the clash between Kane and Kohli at semi was predefined in 2008 itself.
Virat Kohli was so busy in creating and breaking records in batting. Even though he is leading the team without any pressure. It became possible for him because of Dhoni and Rohit. Even before the tournament we raised question about Virat's captaincy. On the other side Kane Williamson is the only hope for New Zealand. Except Ross Taylor no other senior players there to guide him at pressure situations. Still Kane achieved many times by his presence of mind and taking decisions without consulting anyone. In terms of captaincy Kane looks pretty much better than Kolhi. But when coming to bat Virat were at unreachable height.
When coming to ICC World cup 2019, India finished at the top in league stage with 7 wins and 1 loss. That one loss came against the hosts England. At once their condition is like have to play semi final against the same England at same pitch. But luck favors them in the form of South Africa who already eliminated from the tournament beat Australia at their final match. Now India gonna take the Black caps at Manchester. In case of New Zealand, they used the opportunity of facing small teams at first half itself and increased their run rate as much as they can. They qualified to semi finals at 4th place by a greater run rate even though lost 3 consecutive matches at the second half.
The only problem for Virat Kohli is, the league match between India and New Zealand was called off due to rain. So they never had a chance of knowing the positive and negative side of Black Caps. May be they faced NZ at practice match, but performing stage is different than practicing stage. More over that practice match will give confidence to New Zealand only. Because Kane and his co thrashed Indian batting order in that match. Jadeja is the only batsmen scored half century in that match. Hope Kohli will remember this and will include Sir Ravindra Jadeja in playing XI tomorrow. It may give positive thoughts to New Zealand players, but league matches revealed their weakness in many games that is opening batsmen not in form, Kane & Ross is the only hope in batting, middle order burden is the shoulder of Neesham. The same will applicable to India also top3 batsmen are their biggest strength. India's spin attack didnt make any impact in this tournament. So we can expect Kohli may add only one spinner tomorrow either Chahal or Kuldeep and Jadeja will play as a batting all rounder & spinner.
More than these the pitch Manchester, Old Trafford ground does not support any kind of swing balls. So bowlers need to bowl variety balls like Yorker, Slow balls, Short pitch or bouncer. Who ever bat first will have advantage in this pitch they can easily score 300 runs and the pitch will became difficult to chase can expect 250+ runs in second innings. But the weird thing is both team have already played at Manchester against a single team, Windies. Were India restricted them less than 200 runs and New Zealand allowed them to score more than 280 runs.
Expected XI for tmrw's match............... (40% chances are there for rain tomorrow at Old Trafford)
INDIA:
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (C), Rishab Pant, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravinda Jadeja, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Yuvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
Since New Zealand have more right hand batsmen we included Chahal in XI. Now India with 7 batsmen, 2 all rounders, 2 spinners, 3 fast bowlers.
NEW ZEALAND:
Martin Guptil, Henry Nicholas, Kane Williamson (C), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham (wk), Colin Grandhomme, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchel Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Trent Boult
Both Munro and Nicholas are not in form. Bhuvi will be threat for Munro for sure, thats why its better to add Nicholas in XI.
